Aurora Public Library and the Aurora Fox Arts Center are partnering for the return of “From Page to Stage,” an initiative encouraging residents to read the script of “Feeding Beatrice” and to experience the Aurora Fox’s stage production, running from Oct. 1 to Nov. 1. The program features two events —a communal script reading with the show’s director, and a talkback after a performance—to offer participants a glimpse into the creative process before and after seeing the production.
“We are delighted to bring ‘From Page to Stage’ for a second year with a strong and natural connection between two of our department’s most recognized names, Aurora Public Library and the Aurora Fox Arts Center,” said Library and Cultural Services Director Ginger White Brunetti. “Reading a script together, then seeing that play onstage, and ending the experience with a conversation with those involved in the performance is such a unique way of bringing people and stories together, something we strive to do in our department.”
“Feeding Beatrice” is a psychological thriller that explores race, class and the American dream through the story of a Black couple haunted by the ghost of a young white woman.
“From Page to Stage” begins with a free script reading of “Feeding Beatrice” alongside its director, Betty Hart, at the Aurora Fox, 9900 E. Colfax Ave., from 11 a.m. to noon Saturday, Sept. 19. Space is limited to 30 participants, and advance registration is required. Registered participants will receive a complimentary copy of the “Feeding Beatrice” script.
The program continues Sunday, Oct. 11, with a post-show talkback immediately following the 2 p.m. performance where “From Page to Stage “participants can converse with members of the creative team about the production and its themes. Participants also receive a 20% discount to that day’s performance.
“Feeding Beatrice” follows June and Lurie, a contemporary Black couple who have worked hard to build the life they envisioned. When a mysterious teenage girl named Beatrice arrives at their home, their unexpected houseguest proves difficult to satisfy, and even harder to escape. As Beatrice burrows deeper into their lives, June and Lurie must confront what they are willing to sacrifice to protect the life they have built.
