Water conservation

To ensure a sustainable, secure water future by using water wisely, creatively and responsibly today and for generations to come.

Aurora Water is a national leader in water conservation and efficiency initiatives, reducing water consumption by more than 30% so that less water is being treated today than in 2000 despite population growth. As one of the largest cities in the state not located near a major water source, Aurora Water is innovative in how it manages its precious water resources. Water conservation is not just a value here, it is a necessity.
• Municipal code prohibits water wasting, which is enforceable primarily  through education.
• Our water conservation is guided by the Water Management Plan, which defines watering restrictions by water availability stages and outlines response and enforcement tactics.
• Aurora was the first city in Colorado to require efficient landscapes by prohibiting  non-functional turf in new developments and limiting turf in back yards.
• Aurora Water has robust education and education programs, as well as incentives  and programs to encourage water conservation.

Free Online Water Customer Portal
Aurora Water’s online water customer portal helps customers better manage and stay informed about their water usage by viewing timely, accurate water-use data. Customers can also take control of their accounts by setting up consumption alerts. Once the property exceeds the threshold, an email, text or in-app message will be sent, depending upon how the account was set up.

For more information or to set up an account, visit  AuroraGov.org/WaterBill. Customers can also set up alerts for continuous flow events (such as when a faucet or hose is left running or if there is a leak). These alerts provide the opportunity to address problems quickly, avoiding high water bills and unnecessary waste.
